Toni Pasion is a dancer and choreographer from Los Angeles, California. Her ancestral roots in the Philippines hails from Laoag, Ilocos Norte; Antipolo, Rizal; Pampanga. Her primary dance forms are hula and Philippine dance. As a child, Toni was a dancer with the Los Angeles-based dance group, Kayamanan Ng Lahi. In 2015, she returned to KNL and performed for the Merrie Monarch Hoʻike night. When she moved to Honolulu, she continued dancing with Wayne Mendoza at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In the summer of 2016, Toni conducted her fieldwork in the Philippines researching various dance forms. She has documented these experiences and included them in her recently completed Masters thesis on Indigenous Contemporary Dance from a Filipina Perspective, also documenting her experiences as a dancer in several indigenous contemporary dance productions. Her dance interests are in exploring embodied memories, healing, telling stories, and expressing freedom.
